PastorĀ Travis' Thoughts

Ā

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. John 16:33

As we begin this new year, we do so in a world that is not kind. We are surrounded by wars, rumors of war, shootings, terrorism, bullying, hatred, divorce, addiction, abuse, death and disease. Amazingly Christ speaks into this existence and offers peace to us, but this doesn't seem possible. In our weakness we may question whether He realized how cruel this world actually is. The answer is a resounding YES, of course he knew what this life is like. He lived here, suffered here and died here and still offers peace to us. The peace he offers is greater than anything that we are struggling with because He has overcome this world on our behalf. He has overcome the pain and anguish. He has overcome any loneliness. He has overcome disease and death. In fact He has overcome anything this world may throw at us. So remember, no matter what we are dealing with, the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ have made us flawless, and soon it will be over. However, it won't be over when our diseases are healed, when the addiction is gone, when our marriages are healthy, or when the loneliness fades. It will only be over when we see our Savior face to face and truly understand once and for all He indeed has overcome everything. Until then, we live in this world with peace knowing that greater is He that is in us than he who is in the world.

In Christ, Pastor Travis
